About Limestone Coast
The Limestone Coast Region is located in the far south-east of South Australia, between 200- and 450-kilometres south-east of the Adelaide CBD, and between 400 and 500 kilometres west of the Melbourne CBD. The Limestone Coast Region is bounded by the Coorong District Council area and the Southern Mallee District Council area in the north, the Victorian border, West Wimmera Shire and Glenelg Shire in the east, and the Southern Ocean in the south and west. The 2017 Estimated Resident Population for the Limestone Coast region is 66,698. The Limestone Coast Region encompasses seven local government areas: the District Council of Grant, the Kingston District Council area, the City of Mount Gambier, the Naracoorte-Lucindale Council area, the District Council of Robe, the Tatiara District Council area, and the Wattle Range Council area.
The Limestone Coast has many of South Australia’s key resource-based companies in the eight industry areas of: Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing; Manufacturing; Retail Trade; Education; Health and Community Services; Construction; Accommodation, Cafes and Restaurants and Transport.
The Limestone Coast is home to some of South Australia’s most spectacular natural wonders. Discover the aptly-named Blue Lake which turns a vivid turquoise colour during the summer months and the underground oasis, Umpherston Sinkhole. Snorkel the crystal clear waters of the Piccaninnie Ponds or visit Ewens Ponds Conservation Park, renowned for incredible underwater visibility of up to 80 metres.
